Ghetto Girl Child Advocacy Members Trained in Digital Innovation Skills at Africoneu Bootcamp

A group of youngsters from Uganda Children’s Centre joined other youth in a three-day Digital Innovation Bootcamp hosted by Outbox Uganda. The training targeted leaders of Digital Innovation Hubs, Investors, Youth, start-ups, entrepreneurs and entrepreneur support network leaders, and Digital skills providers.

Youth unemployment stands between 64% and 70%, and about 400,000 youths are released annually into the job market to compete for approximately 9,000 available jobs. For the youth of today to be competitive in the world of work, they have to acquire digital skills to support employing companies with digital technologies.

Many companies are failing to improve their businesses/production processes due to lack of digital technology. This training was an eye opener for new starters on how they can innovate new business ideas and give them mileage in attracting potential customers through digital technology.

AfriConEU was appreciated for supporting Digital Innovation Hubs because they provide strategic means to fast-track companies’ digital transformation, especially SMEs, and foster digital technologies’ adoption in their business.

The youngsters from UCC are currently skilling in different occupations namely; Fashion and Design, Pastry and Bakery, Hairdressing and Cosmetology, and Electrical installation. As a group, with support of UCC management, are already drawing a plan to initiate an income generating activity that will be put online to digitalize it have increased business potential.
