It was all joy and jubilations when UCC awarded Certificates of Excellence to six students formerly on Formal Education Programme who excelled in Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) Exams 2022.
In Uganda, students write these Exams when they finish the 2-year upper secondary school which is also called the HSC. It is the main channel where students with good grades directly join Universities or other higher institutions of learning. Appreciated students include, Namubiru Martha, Najjuuko Maureen, Niwagaba Dickson, Nabuyondo Priscilla, Nalikka Imelda and Ssekyeza Eroly.
Special thanks go Ssekyeza Eroly who passed exams with straight As. These youngsters have been on the programme since their primary education. We thank them for their resilience, hard work, consistence and determination.
Already two students namely Ssekyeza Eroly and Nabuyondo Priscilla have been admitted on government sponsorship programme starting this academic year 2023/2024. Ssekyeza is admitted to do a Bachelor of Science Degree in Software engineering, while Nabuyonda will do a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Arts and Applied Design both at Makerere University, Uganda’s Oldest University.
The other students have also submitted in their applications for private admissions to different universities and are waiting for the final lists to be out when the selection is done. We remain confident that they will be admitted because their performances are outstanding.
However, the big question is how will they manage University education which remains expensive for less privileged families. UCC continues to engage its partners if they will be in position to give a hand in pursuing these youngsters’ education dreams. Our call for support continues to individuals and institutions who value education as foundation for all development.
